Kate Bertoncello - Founder/Director
Kate Bertoncello is the Founding Director of The Learning Creative, formerly known as the MSL Club Australia. Kate began her professional career as a musician performing with the State Orchestra of Victoria and studying in Zurich, Switzerland. She gradually worked her way into primary teaching and now has a private practice where she educates in structured literacy with approximately 20 students in her weekly schedule.
Kate has completed further studies in Multisensory Structured Language (MSL) obtaining accreditation with the Australia Dyslexia Association. Her professional development has been expanded with Ron Yoshimoto’s Orton Gillingham course and numerous online courses in the areas of literacy difficulties. Attending conventions and professional learning opportunities in Melbourne and around Australia have been invaluable.
The Learning Creative stemmed from Kate's desire to reduce the isolation that her son felt in his early schooling and so she teamed up with Sarah Asome in 2016 to plan and implement the first camp in January 2017. It was a huge success and the original hope to have 60 students expanded to 97!
Kate enjoys event management and loves watching the work come to life through the professional learning, online support and the camps that The Learning Creative offers.
Outside of work Kate lives with her husband, their three gorgeous (and loud) children and their Groodle, Bronte. She looks forward to getting down to Point Lonsdale for a break when she can.
Kate is an excellent multitasker which enables her to successfully run her private practice while carrying out the responsibilities as Director of The Learning Creative.
